Ila - titanic Achievement!

Bravo Ila.
This is stellar, and obviously a labor of love.

So here it is in its entirety.
Recounted with much insight, knowledge, love and respect, behold the complete biography of the irreducible and unequaled Doc: brilliant and iconic Shark researcher, mentor and Mensch - and certifiably nuts to boot! :)
Part one here, two here, three and final here!

Enjoy!

I had the pleasure of spending almost 2 years at the Shark Lab upon graduating from university in 1993. During this time he was taking some pretty powerful medication during his recovery from lymphoma, and while he could be at times challenging to work for, he was always dedicated to push everyone, including himself, to be the best they could. The fact he is still with us it testament to the man.

After a prolonged period of working in non shark related fields of marine ecology, I am finally back to doing what I always felt was where I wanted to be, and all of this is thanks to Doc. If, in the future, I am in some way involved in making even the tiniest contribution towards shark conservation, this man's passion, drive, wit, wisdom and general 'mad bastard-ness' will have been major factors.

Thank you so much for posting this, Mike! It was a fascinating thing for me to put it together, and learn so much unexpected information about sharks, all of the sort that IMO should be reported about them. And Doc is such a visionary, and so nice, that it was a real pleasure to write.
